Kobe Sizzlers has been sitting pretty next to Spice Tree on Hill Road, Bandra for as long as I can remember. Have preferred to have my fill of sizzlers at Sahibaan on Turner Road but after a bad stomach (that my friend endured, I don’t endure such things as I have a bottomless pit!) we have avoided Sahibaan for the time being.
So when craving for sizzlers, we thought of crashing the party at Kobe’s to try a new restaurant!
Before ordering the sizzler we went through the usual ritual of getting ourselves a few drinks. This included an Ice Tea and Fresh Lime Soda. This was the first time an Ice Tea actually tasted like an Ice Tea. I could taste tea in there, for a change. It was an excellent coolant and could have done with another one too!
Next up was the sizzler! (blame the ice tea for the long wait!). We ordered for a Chicken Sizzler with boiled vegetables. The sizzler was cooked well without burning the underside. The chicken steak was tender and veggies were boiled well. The french fries included were humongous! Thankfully there was no rice included or else we would have fallen asleep at the restaurant itself. The sizzler was excellent in my opinion.
Kobe has strangely gotten bad reviews at Burrp.com but I for one only have good things to talk about the place. The ambiance is no frills but the food is excellent! The Ice Tea was super and so was the sizzler. Pricey though it is, the food makes up for it.
Overall Ratings are:
Ambiance: 2/5 -(it isn’t the most well maintained place and one can notice seepage in certain parts of the wall)
Paid a visit to Gondola on a Friday evening with my dear friends and wasn’t disappointed one-bit! Primarily serves sizzler, but also has a wide variety of delicious starters and main course meals. Since most of the gang was veggie that day, I decided to tag along as a vegetarian myself!
First up was the Fried Crispy Crunchy Veg (cauliflower) which was good though I think next time I am ordering the same thing in chicken! That was followed by a cottage cheese dish, Dragon Paneer – wasn’t as fiery as I had imagined it to be. But delicious nonetheless. Plus, with the addition of sauces, it tasted even better. For main course, we had Paneer Shashlik Mushroom and Cheese which included paneer pieces, mushrooms, some green vegetable, french fries, rice and a single slice of cheese. It would have been better with a lot more cheese than that single slice (I assume it was either Amul or Britannia)!! Anyways, the dish was good, well cooked and the paneer was nicely marinated as well.
A meal isn’t complete without desserts! And so we ordered for Brownie with Ice Cream – shame they didn’t have sizzling brownies with ice cream – which is ironic, as you generally see ‘sizzling meals’ on every table at the restaurant!
Overall, the food was bland though the sauces added the extra flavours. Bland, in this case, doesn’t necessarily mean bad, rather different than others. Price was on the higher side (as compared to Saibaan, Turner Road, Bandra) though the quality was definately better at Gondola.
Here is a break-up of the bill:
Fried Crispy Crunchy Veg – INR 130
Dragon Paneer – INR 180
Paneer Shashlik Mushroom and Cheese sizzler – INR 350
Brownie with Ice Cream – INR 100
On the ambiance aspect, it was quite pleasing, aesthetically speaking.
Ending on a funny note, there were times when Gondola resembled a hospital more than a restaurant! Whenever a waiter brought a sizzler from the kitchen, the patrons would start coughing due to the masala-laded steam arising from the sizzlers!

Sahibaan is a place to come to if you are up for a sizzler at an affordable rate. This small tiny joint boasta of a wide variety of dishes and more importantly sizzlers.
So on a quiet afternoon my office decided to go out and have some sizzlers. We had to wait for a good 15 mins for our table (table of 6) after which we finally placed our orders.
The order consisted of roast chicken sizzler, steak sizzler, crunchy chicken sizzler and a one more.
Sizzlers came in steaming but the hungry buggers that we were, not caring for how hot the food is, we jumped in to enjoy the delicious meal that awaited us. The roast chicken sizzler was by far the best of the 4 we ordered simply for a larger quantity of chicken it had which also tasted quite good!
The sizzlers were accompanied by ice tea which wasn’t so bad either.
Overall we paid Rs.200 per head which is way lower than what we would pay elsewhere for a similar feast. Yes we did have to wait a bit longer for our food to arrive but we weren’t complaining.
